Family spends more than one million euros to care for the elderly, disabled and vulnerable families in Abarán (08/09/2016)

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Thomas, visited today in Abarán occupational center La Noria, the Center for Child Development and Early Intervention, the residence of elderly Nicolás Gómez Tornero and building facilities CIMA, where they are located Social services in the municipality.

Since the regional government "is becoming a major budgetary effort to expand the number of public places available for older people in residences and day centers in the region," said Thomas Violante.

The Department of Family and Equal Opportunities in 2015 of 3,448 available spaces eldercare, including day centers and residences, and today the offer is 3,993, representing an increase of 545 seats.

The number of places in the residence Nicolás Gómez Tornero for the municipality of Abarán and surrounding areas has increased by 38 percent.

On May 1 it was expanded in sleeps 10 plus the 26 that already had arranged the IMAS in this center, which has a grant of 354,427 euros from the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities.

The Day Centre for older serving a total of 38 people through the concert held with the IMAS, amounting to 303,240 euros.

Day centers Seniors offer comprehensive care during the day period for people in situations of dependency, with the aim of improving or maintaining the best possible level of personal autonomy and support families or caregivers.

In particular, they cover, from a biopsychosocial approach needs counseling, prevention, rehabilitation, guidance for empowerment, enablement or assistance and personal attention.

The Minister stressed the "excellent coordination" IMAS with the municipal social services Abarán.

"The Day Centre for the care of older people is in coordination with municipal services, which facilitates and streamlines the management of files of dependency. In addition, Abarán is one of the four municipalities in the region, along with Puerto Lumbreras, Totana and Sewer, who have already signed the agreement for the provision of home help, which is funded with 97,825 euros for 31 people in the municipality, "said Thomas Violante.

As for the protection of persons with disabilities it is cared total 100 people and their families in the Early Childhood Center and the Occupational Centre La Noria, with a budget of more than 236,000 euros.

In the detail of these benefits, in the center of Early Childhood receive stimulation more than 80 children and also are funding 20 places for day care in La Noria, where comprehensive care is offered to basic, therapeutic and sociocultural personal needs of people with intellectual disabilities affected by varying degrees of dependency, promoting their independence and remain in their usual environment.

The autonomous region also allocated to the City of Abarán more than 98,000 euros to Plan Concerted Social Services and a total of 19,424 euros of funds from the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality for social projects to support family and children.
