A new guidebook shows the historical aspect of the Ricote Valley (26/12/2008)

The Cultural Center hosted Abarán Square on Friday 23 the launch of "The Valley of Ricote through their strengths," a document that shows, step by step, the most important heritage of the region through eight new routes natural and historical.

The event, chaired by Antonio Eugenio Gómez, Abarán mayor, attended the author of the guide, Jesus Joaquin Lopez Moreno, Enrique Ujaldón Benitez, Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Angel Gil Campos, general director of Tourism Promotion Lazaro Gimenez, editor Natursport and archaeologist Juan Antonio Ramírez Eagle, co-director of excavations at Siyasa and member of the Archaeological Institute "Tudmir."

The work is the result of "a field of two years," said Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets, "and get all kinds of useful information for those who want to experience the heritage of the area."

In this sense, the director general of Tourism, Angel Campos, emphasized that for accuracy and depth, the guide is aimed at both foreign visitors and also for the Murcia, stating further that is the culmination of cultural tourism development and implantation in Ricote Valley over the last decade.

López Moreno, explained that the book is divided into two blocks.

The first relates to the analysis of Berber settlements, Roman and medieval given in the valley section that covers the main theories of historians and archaeologists who have dealt with the sites or habitats of the region.

The second part of the guide is intended entirely to the description of a total of eight routes historical novel, in which the traveler can go all the Ricote Valley, from Archena to Cieza, and have in common a visit of at least one of its strengths in each itinerary.

Namely, Las Peñas de Ojós, Ricote, White Darrax, Bolvax, Siyasa, Cieza, Archena and port of Losi.

The new guide, which has already been published 1,000 copies, costs 15 euros and is already on sale in bookstores.
