Interview with the Social Welfare council on CO La Noria (02/12/2009)

On 3 December, International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

During this week, the Occupational Center (CO) "La Noria" celebrates a week full of activities.

The councilman of Social Welfare, M ª Carmen Turner, talks about this project.

What is Occupational Center La Noria?

CO is a place where people work for their members to sit in a project where they are welcomed and valued in their uniqueness as human beings with their opinions, their abilities and preferences, the technical team conducts workshops and activities geared to achieving greater well-being and quality of life.

How did the idea of programming the I week of activities to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities?

Looking forward to that for the first time, held a week of activities Occupational Center, which serves people with intellectual disabilities, and the intention is that people know about this new phase of the Centre and the work done for the disabled have their role in society and become part of our projects, taking into account their views, preferences, and encouraging their involvement in any act of the company.

What would you highlight of this new stage?

This year we are moving forward, together with the technical team, the idea that the performance of students is comprehensive and that there are only certain times of day occupation.

You can develop physical therapy workshops which contribute to progress and improve their agility and innovation is important to highlight that a psychologist meets with the family, because we need the support of the family to identify problems and undertake a study of possible solutions .

All actions are aimed at the full social integration.

In terms of activities, CIMA welcomes the photographic exhibition "Voices and views of diversity", authored by students of the Centre.

What makes this interesting?

We wanted to convey his own vision of the world and environment around them, the photographs reflect what they believe is important.

It is a work done with the maximum involvement of students as they are the authors of the works and they themselves have decided the pictures in the exhibition.

What images can be found in the sample?

Appreciate pictures of the heroes in meetings, workshops, activities, relaxed moments, also reflected in Abarán places like Jarral or municipal park and parts of buildings and monuments, for example, the door of the Parish of St. Paul, with a different frame than we're used to.

What other activities are planned?

On Thursday we celebrate the open house, for people who wish to visit the Centre, and also this Friday there will be an exhibition at the weekly market of notebooks, books, crafts, calendar and other items made by students, for we invite citizens to visit the stand.

The activities end on December 6 with the reading of one of the articles of the Spanish Constitution, in the ceremony in homage to the Constitution planned by the City of Abarán in the Hermitage at 10 am.
