Abarán adds to the momentum of the work associated as a measure to boost employment (28/04/2010)

The City Council and UCOMUR Abarán, Union of Worker Cooperatives in the Region of Murcia, this morning signed a collaboration agreement in which both parties undertake to promote cooperatives and training of skilled workers in the municipality.

The objective of this agreement is to energize the labor situation of the population of Abarán in regard to creation of cooperatives and training.

Abarán Mayor, Antonio Eugenio Gómez, referred to the agreement as "an initiative aimed at creating jobs and carry out future actions aimed at employment within our municipality."

Antonio Eugenio Gomez said that "the commitment of the corporation is expected towards creating jobs for abaraneros, a very important outlet for our people and that line is where the council is working."

For his part, Juan Antonio Pedroza, president of UCOMUR emphasized that this agreement aims to "encourage and generate expectations creation of informing and advising companies on issues such as where to build businesses, which can generate employment, what activities how to generate these companies and what is their profile, "he said.

Juan Antonio Pedroza said the Union of Worker Cooperatives "bet, usually by a business model that is the social economy, in particular, the cooperative enterprise."

"We understand that is the company that best enhances the value of the person in good times and less good times, like this one that we are living, is the company that has best resisted the whims of the current economic circumstances," he said.

"We defend a business model that is more flexible now, which is better suited to wage moderation and time requires to be self-managed as any other company in the market," he said.

"We want to help generate the employment opportunity and do so under the cooperative form, helping also to companies to obtain financial resources," he said.

The organization will develop measures of information, counseling and job training for those who opt for self-employed through a business project associated work.

Abarán soon be organized in a conference presentation to present to citizens where they can create jobs, sectors and subsectors, activities, how they can create jobs and tools to generate it.

Positive data

Juan Antonio Pedroza said that in the past two years has lost 24 percent, in regard to global companies, while in the field of cooperatives has lost only 4.5 percent, and Murcia less than 4.5 percent.

"One positive is that last year created 670 social worker cooperatives in Spain, Murcia, with 122 firms was behind the second region of Andalusia, which recorded 136" he said.
