José Miguel Manzanares: "I will continue leading Abarán's future project even if they leave me without a mayor's or public official's salary" (30/11/2018)

He assures that there are up to four negative reports on this measure adopted, so "the PP will appeal this decision despite the fact that the mayor, father of two children, does not receive his salary as a public official"

The mayor of the PP in Abarán, José Miguel Manzanares, has appeared this Friday at a press conference, together with the secretary general of the PP of the Region of Murcia, Miguel Angel Miralles, who has denounced "the political blackmail that is suffering the mayor of Abarán on the part of the opposition parties in the local City Council, PSOE, Ciudadanos, IU and Unión y Desarrollo, to force him to leave his position ".

In this regard, Manzanares has stressed that "they have come together to leave me without a salary, but they will neither coerce me nor intimidate me".

At this point, the mayor of Abarán explained that "there is a decree of the Mayor's office incompatibility of official position, so I would have to abandon my responsibilities as mayor to join my work as an official if I want to receive any retribution ", to which he added," what they have tried with this decision, is that they resign as alderman, but for me, the most important thing is the neighbors and my future project for Abarán, so they are not going to get".

In this regard, José Miguel Manzanares, has advanced that "despite this extortion I will continue working for the people who live in my municipality, even without receiving any compensation for being mayor and not be able to collect my salary as a public official".

"I acquired a commitment with the residents of Abarán and I am going to fulfill it, because in the PP it is always fulfilled, I will maintain my responsibility as an alderman until the end", he emphasized.

POLITICAL CHANTAGE AND LOST TREASTS

For his part, the secretary general of the regional PP, Miguel Angel Miralles has insisted that "it is a political blackmail of the extreme left with the connivance of Citizens as a partner to undermine the stability of Abarán," and added that "they are the tricks of those who do not have the democratic courage to present a motion of censure or to win at the polls because they know they can not defeat a hardworking, honest mayor who gives his all for his neighbors. "

"It is sad to play with the human side of people," said Miralles to add that "Manzanares fights daily for the residents of Abarán and want to throw him out the back door, leaving them free city hall and to return to his post official".

The secretary general of the PP, has explained the reason that has led the political forces of the opposition to revoke the salary of the mayor;

"for a deficit of 40,000 euros in the municipal coffers as in the previous year".

At this point he asked the PSOE "if they are going to act in the same way with the socialist mayors who govern in municipalities like Moratalla and Totana that have also generated debt."

Miralles explained that "José Miguel Manzanares is the cheapest mayor in the Region of Murcia, as his salary increases by only 200 euros when compared to the one he charged in his position as a public official", and he remarked that it is " what was agreed in the plenary session of November 28 is a ruinous measure, because the rest of the councilors leave only to receive the salaries and compensation for attendance at the plenary sessions, because they are not released, but the mayor loses all his salary ".

He has also criticized Citizens that "both face the left but Abarán supports them, who defend not breaking the law, but here they ignore the four negative reports of the revocation of the salary", to which he added that "in the regional ranks, the orange formation keeps its hand outstretched and show responsible attitudes as they have done with support for the regional budgets, but in Abarán they have shown that they do not follow that road map ".

Likewise, the "popular" general secretary has assured that "the PP will appeal this decision, we will win it and no one will ask for forgiveness, neither him nor his family who are left without income".

A decision, he insisted, "that has up to four negative reports, one of them from the General Directorate of the local Administration" and all this has been regretted "despite the mayor being the father of two young children, and not will receive some compensation, neither as a councilor, nor as a public official, but has all the support of the PP because we are all the mayor of Abarán ", has ended.
