The director of the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia, Juan Francisco Martínez, visited the Route of the Norias de Abarán this week to strengthen the Community's commitment to the rehabilitation of this ethnographic and tourist itinerary and to know in detail the state of the route as a previous step to its reactivation.
The Route of the Norias is a unique resource within the Ricote Valley offer and its value is in line with the Community's commitment to a more sustainable tourism capable of energizing the interior, promoting the protection of the biodiversity of the area and help improve its management and conservation.
The route runs for more than a kilometer through a river and agricultural landscape that joins the main group of traditional ferris wheels in the Region of Murcia, which are still active for the irrigation of small orchards and fruit trees.
Likewise, it increases the active and nature potential of the Ricote Valley, complementing it with other modalities such as health tourism, cultural, food and wine tourism.
