Abarán City Council reports the start on Friday 11 April the campaign to collect used cooking oils, "Recycle in three steps" (09/04/2008)

The campaign will run in the municipal market from 9.00am to 1:00 p.m., where it funnels and information leaflets distributed

Domestic oil consumption discharges into the sewerage system generates a highly polluting urban waste which makes the purification of waste water and causes the appearance of organisms harmful to health.

Furthermore, the obstruction of pipes is another serious consequences caused by this practice.

Therefore, the City Council Abarán, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning has launched a campaign which aims to educate people to care for the environment by recycling waste oils.

The campaign "Recycle in three steps," explains clearly how we can help save our planet:

1.

Using a funnel pour the used cooking oil in plastic bottles.

(PET containers).

2.

Place the bottles closed containers ready for collection of oil and placed at different points of recycling: the Cultural Center Plaza, Plaza de Toros parking, St. Paul Public School and Centro Cultural El Barco (Hoya del Campo).

3.

This oil is used to make paints, varnishes, creams, soaps and biofuels, which pollute our planet to a lesser extent.

For the convenience of users, the City Council Abarán available to citizens and free orange funnels for recycling used oil, which may be obtained from the 4 points of recycling and the Office of Consumer Affairs.
