ABARE MAYOR RECEIVED YESTERDAY TO TEACHERS AND STUDENTS OF COMENIUS PROJECT WITH A SPEECH IN ENGLISH (10/04/2008)

Abarán Mayor, Antonio Eugenio Gómez Gómez, yesterday gave a welcome speech in English to teachers and students of schools in Italy and Bulgaria, which along with the IES Villa de Abarán, part of the Comenius Project, which has aimed at exchanging experiences and explore the historic environment through research and teaching on the basis of ideas for later implementation.

After the welcome, the Mayor of Abarán, Antonio Eugenio Gomez, gave the Italian and Bulgarian teachers, Teresa Barletta and Zorka Nikolova Petrova, a sculpture of the Wheel of Abarán, in memory of his visit to our municipality.

The three schools (Institito Comprehensive Rafaello Giovagnoli Monterotondo, Italy, Secondary School Bacho Kiro, Bulgaria and the IES Villa de Abarán) were held on days 7, 8 and 9 with a workshop that aims to reach agreements common and possible to arrange visits between the countries, as reported by the Director of IES Villa de Abarán, Francisco Mora.

During the visit, exchange professors in Italy and Bulgaria, accompanied by a group of schoolchildren have known places of our town, as the route of the Norias and the City, and other areas of the Valley of Ricote emblematic, like the ruins of the Siyasa city of Medina.

Abarán institute will base its work on creating information about Arab occupation of the Valley of Ricote and Cieza, mainly focusing on the Cerro de la Cobertera, Medina Siyasa, White Castle and Castle Ricote.

In this experience will involve several groups of 3 º ESO.

For its part, Italy has chosen century Roman 0 for research and Bulgaria, the third millennium BC.

Socrates National Agency approved the application of IES Villa de Abarán to maintain a research relationship with other European secondary schools.

The selected countries were Italy, the coordinator of this project, and Bulgaria.

EU funding plan with $ 10,000 for each center and will be received during 2008 and 2009.

To begin the experience, 3 teachers visited Abarán IES Monterotondo, a town near Rome, to meet personally with European partners and the primary basis for the project.

The next meeting will take place in Bulgaria.
