Concentration silent against gender violence (24/11/2008)

Around one hundred and fifty people took part this afternoon in a demonstration against gender violence has toured two of the main streets of the town until you reach the Plaza de la Zarzuela.

Have taken part in the municipal council members and groups like the Association of Senior Pensioner's home, the Youth Center Way, the Association of Housewives, Consumers and Users San Cosme y San Damian and members of the Risk Prevention Project Child and Adolescent Social Councillors of the Family and Minors, Education and Welfare, among others and neighbors who wanted to join the protest.

The silent demonstration has been completed on the esplanade of the Plaza de Toros where they have read three manifestos for the elimination of gender violence.

José Manuel Martínez, on behalf of the Youth Center opened El Camino reading manifestos and read as follows: "Domestic violence is not a private sector problem, but affects society in general.

Is an expression of the unequal relationship between men and women based on the alleged superiority of one sex over another.

The silence and resignation are not answer, they should never be [...].

Gender violence is not a barrier to equality, development and peace for the people because it prevents women from enjoying human rights and fundamental freedoms of a society in which all people are free and equal " .

For its part, the vice president of the Association of Amas de Casa, San Cosme y San Damian, M ª Carmen Carrasco, complained that "despite the measures taken by various governments to eliminate this social evil, each year there are more deaths in this type, we would call, "he continued," all persons who have or are near someone who has this problem to speak out and not be afraid and encourage others to clothe these people, believe that with the collaboration of all this problem is to less.
