Abarán now has another tool for protecting the environment (19/06/2009)

Abarán Mayor, Antonio Eugenio Gómez, Councillor for the Environment, José Gabriel Cano Montoro, the Director General of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control from the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, Francisco José García Espejo and Regional Director of Agenda 21 Local, José Antonio Padilla Angel, presented the implementation of Local Agenda 21 in the town of Abarán.

Abarán Mayor has pointed out that the City has committed to caring for the environment and recalled that the Ministry of Agriculture and Water has awarded the Certificate of Environmental Compensation Release (106.45 tonnes of CO2 in the town).

For his part, José Antonio Padilla Angel explained the objectives, methodology and significance of local sustainability strategic project of Local Agenda 21 of the UN and the implementation schedule and development of Local Agenda 21 Abarán.

Local Agenda 21

Is a local action plan aimed at sustainable development that allows us to be part of a global strategy to harmonize economic, social, cultural and environmental aspects of the municipality and arising from the participation and consensus decision-making among political representatives, technical staff, stakeholders and citizens Abarán.

This participatory process aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens through sustainable development and can thus integrate the three pillars:

- Survival in the environment, environmental sustainability.

- The need for social equity, social sustainability.

- The economic balance, economic sustainability.
