Abarán Mayor, Antonio Eugenio Gomez, accompanied by the Councillor for the Environment, José Gabriel Cano Montoro and Regional Director of Local Agenda 21, José Antonio Padilla Angel, presided on Monday at the Hall Theatre Guerrero Mendoza the act of incorporation of the forum citizen Abarán 21, Local Agenda21 project for sustainability of the municipality.

Among the participants, four were the candidates contesting for President, through a call for popular participation.

After the vote, Antonio Yelo Saorin was elected Chairman of the Forum Abarán 21, with the support of 19 votes.

The Vice President went to Luna Reyes.

The other candidate, Moses Palazón and Mercedes Carrasco, expressed interest in participating in the project.

Abarán Mayor, Antonio Eugenio Gomez Abarán21 stressed that the Forum is a step towards sustainable local development: "Maybe this is the most important step because it is a participatory process that requires the involvement of citizens, where there only take account of political opinion, "he said.

Gomez said that "the Citizen's Forum is an instrument for citizen participation, essential in any process of implementing a Local Agenda 21, where abaraneros can discuss and contribute ideas for harnessing the resources of this county, and that the ultimate goal this process is to ensure the sustainability of it. "

"The implementation of Local Agenda 21 is a process in which Abarán City Council has been directly involved since its inception through plenary proposals and approvals for the development and implementation and where all citizens and stakeholders, including businesses, associations , groups, etc., must participate in order to build a better future with the help of everyone, "said Antonio Eugenio Gómez.

For his part, Councillor for the Environment, José Gabriel Cano Montoro, noted that the City of Abarán joins the initiative in carrying out the process of creating the Local Agenda21 in order to develop its own Sustainable Development Strategy for Abarán municipality.

"This procedure takes the view that public participation and involvement in municipal environmental policy, so that, together, we can define a local development model oriented towards sustainability and improved quality of life of abaraneros" said Cano Montoro.

The Regional Director of Local Agenda21, José Antonio Padilla Angel, stressed that the challenge of this project is to improve the welfare of citizens and that they become players in the process of implementing Agenda21. "

Also forthcoming second meeting of the Citizen Forum for attendees aware of the findings of the Environmental Assessment and can contribute ideas to develop the Local Action Plan for sustainability.
