Teatro Cervantes de Abarán hosted the inaugural gala last Saturday of the Fourth Conference "Abarán Against Cancer held in the town from 6 to February 14, sponsored this year by Guillermo Gómez Gómez, a specialist in urology at the University Hospital "Virgen de la Arrixaca."
The local Board President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), Julia Murcia Sonia Gallego, recalled at the start of the event the work of Emilio Pérez Montalbán, "a person with great human values, an invincible fighter and a tireless worker" said Julia Murcia.
Joined this tribute in his speech Abarán Mayor, Antonio Eugenio Gómez: "The AECC also recalled a man given to Abarán and will always be in our memory, a sense hug for his family," he said.
Abarán Mayor congratulated the Association for "demonstrating once again its commitment to our society, through a conference dedicated to information and knowledge of the disease, dissemination of preventive measures, support and advocacy groups concerned beneficial actions for research on cancer, "he said.
"With the support of everyone, every day we move forward in the fight against this disease, so I encourage collaboration in this cause," noted the mayor of the town.
Antonio Eugenio Gómez commended the sponsor of the conference and highlighted his "humanity, proximity, patient care and teaching, his commitment to the field of medicine as well as sympathy and self-confidence."
For its part, Guillermo Gómez Gómez, sponsor of the Fourth Conference "Abarán against cancer, delivered a message of hope in his statement:" The fight against this disease progresses steadily and new methods of diagnosis, coupled with prevention campaigns are multiplying the efficacy of what is possible that cancer mortality rates have declined, so we conclude that the cure is more likely every day. "
Guillermo Gomez recalled that remains to be done in the fight against this disease and emphasized that "science and solidarity are to walk together in this fight against cancer."
The second part of the act led to the Lyric Gala hosted by Joaquín Fernández Barranco, Beatriz Sanchez and Andrea Fernandez, whose humor and elegance was supported by the wonderful voices of tenor Aurelio Gallego, comedian José Pedro León Pérez, Blanca Fernandez and the treble Maria Marin, Isabel Maria Carrillo comic, the comic actress Rosarito Sanchez, tenor and soprano Manuel Monserrate Sacraments Avellaneda, accompanied on piano by maestro David Blas Gómez Gómez.
La Agrupación Musical "Santa Cecilia" put the finishing touch of the conference with a concert to be held on Sunday at 12.00 at the Teatro Cervantes, after the Charity Gala held on Saturday 13 February at 21.00 in the Hall Azahar.
Among the events planned is a screening of the movie "Now or never" at the Teatro Guerrero Mendoza (Thursday 11 at 21.00) and is hosting a charity flea market (weekly market at 9:00 a.m.) and a conference entitled "Prevention of tumors in the male genitourinary, "taught by Dr. Guillermo Gomez (Friday 12 at 21.00 in the Theatre Guerrero Mendoza).
